DESCRIPTION:

Italy is the home to over 500 native grape varieties. Surprisingly, many remain under the radar despite being rewarding in the glass. During this session, we will explore a white and a red from the north of Italy. For the white, we will taste a wine from the Veneto region that is grown on old, volcanic soils. This wine has been recognized with one of the top wine awards in Italy (tre bicchieri) no fewer than eight times! For the red, we will limber up for thinking about the winter Olympics, which will be held in February in the north of Italy with a gorgeous alpine red. This online session will be led by Tyler Colman, Ph.D., a leading wine writer and wine educator who offers wine experiences through Tylermade Tours.

BIOGRAPHY:

Tyler Colman, Ph.D. (aka Dr. Vino) connects people with wines they love. The author of two wine books and a finalist for the James Beard Foundation award, he taught wine classes for ten years at NYU and five years at the University of Chicago. Tyler’s wine writing has appeared in The New York Times, Wine & Spirits, Food & Wine, The World of Fine Wine, Forbes, the Oxford Companion to Wine, and even Bicycling magazine.
