DESCRIPTION:

As wintry weather envelops us, we will let our vinous explorations take us to the balmy climes of the south of France! Through two red wines from family-owned estates, we will explore first a hilltop vineyard making a blend of that holy trinity of grapes from the region (grenache, syrah, and mourvedre). Then we will venture south to near the Mediterranean and try an age-worthy red from a vigneron who at one point was a boxer, is still a hunter and home cook, and basically could be ripped from the pages of any novel set in Provence.

BIOGRAPHY:

Tyler Colman, Ph.D. (aka Dr. Vino) connects people with wines they love. The author of two wine books and a finalist for the James Beard Foundation award, he taught wine classes for ten years at NYU and five years at the University of Chicago. Tyler’s wine writing has appeared in The New York Times, Wine & Spirits, Food & Wine, The World of Fine Wine, Forbes, the Oxford Companion to Wine, and even Bicycling magazine.
